There are so many fantastic locations just a stone’s throw away from Blackburn with Darwen. The main problem clients tend to have is choosing where to go, and it’s definitely one of the better problems to have! For this shoot I met Claire, Jonny, Arlo, and Aura at Entwistle Reservoir, a lovely place in-between Darwen and Egerton where the family often go for walks. Also joining us was the family dog, Missy, an old lady who has been part of the family for many years.

So with a toddler, pre-schooler, and dog what could possibly go wrong?! I really don’t believe in the old adage ‘never work with children or animals’, it may be challenging but it’s also so much fun. Where else can you sing nursery rhymes at the top of your lungs and make silly faces for a job? We got lovely pictures of everyone together and separately, even if it did involve a little food bribery!

I had already met Arlo a few months before when I spent a few days with Beyond the Walls taking nursery pictures in Roddlesworth Woods. Before their family session I also met up with Claire and Aura, a chance to break the ice and also chat about what they wanted to get from the shoot.  It makes it much less daunting on the day when the person behind the lens isn’t a stranger, which is especially helpful with children in particular.

When you book a session with me a meet up before the day is always included as standard, getting to know you and your needs to make sure you get the most from your session is always my top priority.
