Getting your branding right for your business is so important, particuarly in our fast age of the internet and social media. This is why all my sessions come with an in person pre-shoot consultation included. I find them incredibly helpful for both myself and my clients to find out more about each other, and never more so than when a client wants to get their personality across in their pictures. After this meeting I can then confidently capture the right images, and having talked beforehand we’re all more relaxed even with a camera between us. I know how nerve-wracking having your photo taken can be!

Natalia is starting her journey into private practice as a counsellor focusing on maternal mental health and needed images that give her potential clients an idea of the kind of counsellor she is at a glance. Knowing from personal experience just how important maternal mental health care is, I was absolutely delighted to be able to help Natalia achieve this.

I asked Natalia to tell me more about her practise “I decided to study to become a therapist in 2011. I was always interested in emotions and our abilities to connect as human beings, I wondered if I could manage helping others when I feel things so strongly myself but I have since learned this is an asset in my work. Empathy and validation are the key foundations of my work and I think finding an understanding of a clients perspective helps them in turn to find solutions or peace for and within themselves. Working in this client centred way has been incredibly fulfilling these last few years and having my own private practice now is allowing me freedom to help with no restrictions. My goal is to have flexible rates for lower income individuals who may be struggling with a traumatic birth or post natal mental health issue, as well as any SEN parents who need a space to explore their feelings. I am really passionate about helping people in my community by continuing to learn about how they see and experience their world and providing a non judgmental and confidential space to explore their thoughts and feelings.”

We first took some shots at her home in the space she will be using for her sessions before heading out to Moss Bank Park in Bolton. We constantly communicated whilst moving around different backdrops, from me giving Natalia directions of where and how to stand to Natalia letting me know her ideas, I like to work with my clients to bring their visions to life.

It was a very successful afternoon and the portraits we captured definitely let Natalia’s wonderfully friendly and caring personality shine through.
